It is September and I am only just writing my first “days out in London” post of the year.
In my defence… What a year! Covid-19 reared its ugly masked head early last year, and most of us law-abiding types have been socially crippled by it ever since.
I managed to nearly get myself stranded in Barcelona at the start of it when the city went into lockdown with me in the middle of it. Surviving on bell peppers from the only remaining open market 2 miles away from the hotel in between frantically checking flight updates for my remaining 48 hours in a derelict zombie-town was not a rejuvenating way to spend a weekend)
Atop of that, in January this year I (finally - yes - shuttup) flew the nest from my folks house into my friends house and my tripled rent has been a most helpful deterrent from all that terrible, nasty social stuff that is going on among the unmasked and unclean masses out there.
…Well it’s nonetheless time I went out and became one of them again. There’s only so much ‘work, sleep, tribal wars, repeat’ a girl can take before girl starts taking axe to door.
I recently bought a subscription for a newly formed (in London) activity site “Buckt” promising 5x free activities a month for the cost of £40 per month for a duo subscription or “£30” per month for a solo subscription. The first month was a promotional cost of £20 for a duo subscription, which provided me and a companion of my choosing a list of a comedy club, Salsa dancing class, visit to the Household Cavalry museum, bouldering and a digital treasure hunt. For me, great choices. Great enough for me to continue the subscription, though admittedly to the solo subscription the next month.
With so many pursuits on the imminent horizon, my inner blogger re-awakens bleary-eyed from hibernation. The tapping of the keyboard is as comforting as a cold beer with an old friend. It is, regrettably, just as likely to leave me with an empty bank account and a few embarrassing stories.
Well. Shall we…? ;-)
